Carbondale Township is responsible for providing fire protection services to residents within the Township of Carbondale and outside the city limits of the City of Carbondale. The Carbondale Township Fire Department was organized to provide these services. The provision of these services, and the associated ISO rating, keeps township residents' property insurance lower than without them.

The Carbondale Township Fire Department consists of 4 full-time firefighters, 2 part-time firefighters, and a trained volunteer staff of nearly 20.
